1. Think about how much time you and your employees spend on the internet, how many people will be connected at one time and what you use it for because this will give us an idea on how much bandwidth you will need.
2. Make sure you get your phone line included in the package because this will help to reduce the cost of your bills.
3. When you purchase a business broadband package, make sure your provider has a strong coverage in your area. You do not want to end up with low signal constantly.
4. Be careful with the length of contract you are signing up to and check how long it is for because sometimes providers only offer their good deals to ridiculous length contract holders.
5. Again, when signing up make sure that everything such as handsets and line rental are all included in the price that you were offered and do not accept any hidden charges.
6. Look out for deals with high speeds and unlimited downloads so that when you use your broadband as a platform for your phone systems, there will be no download speed issues.
7. Make sure that like Elite, there is always somewhere for you to call if you come across any problems with the service.
8. Make use of the added features that your providers, like Elite Telecom, give to you. These can be extra mailboxes, online file storage and more.
9. When you get your broadband package, get one that allows you to connect to the network on the go so you can access your emails wherever you are away from the office.
10. Use anti-virus and firewall protection with your business broadband. Some versions such as MPLS already has it built in but there is no harm in added cover to protect your data and files.
ADSL is a type of broadband internet that specialises in having a high speed connection, using copper lines to send and receive data. It uses normal phone lines to transmit data backwards and forwards on a digital frequency. Because of this digital frequency, the internet and phone system making calls can be used at the same time.
Elite also offers ASDL2 which is a step up from standard ADSL making it faster and has higher productivity levels.
Features that ADSL Broadband can include are:
Telecoms regulator Ofcom is once again unhappy with broadband providers after it commissioned SamKnows to conduct research into broadband speeds.
Despite Ofcom recently introducing a voluntary code of practice whereby broadband providers are pushed to give realistic speed estimates to customers, the disparity between advertised speed and actual speed is growing.
Ofcom has actually discovered that with the national average speed of broadband growing, the difference is even worse! For example, an ADSL broadband connection is advertised at 8-10Mbps when it actually only reaches 3.3Mbps on average. I think it highly likely that soon the voluntary code of practice will be remade into a mandatory one.
Orange has reported that they are doing exceedingly well on mobile customers, not so well on fixed-line broadband customers. The Orange customer base recently rose to around 16.1 million customers, 41% of which are long-term customers, showing the stability of Orange.
Despite the fact that Orange have changed price plans and upped their broadband speeds up to 20 Mbps and despite the fact that recent research indicates broadband sales (particularly ADSL broadband) are increasing, Orange have very recently lost around 55,000 broadband customers. It’s a good thing that the mobile market is on the rise then!
ADSL Is A-OK!
Tired of unreliable broadband services, many businesses and SMEs in particular come to Elite. They come to Elite wanting everything. They say:
"We want something that's cost-effective."
"We want something that's reliable."
"We want something that’s fast."
"We want something that’s always on."
-"Can you do it?"
And Elite say…yes.
We’re seeing a huge rise in businesses turning to our ADSL Business Broadband. Don’t get left behind.
BT have recently announced that they have launched a new ‘bonded-ADSL’ service in Lincolnshire, UK, that will provide a faster broadband service to businesses which have had to put up with bad broadband speeds because they are too far from the telephone exchange. Using technology from Sharedband Ltd, the new faster broadband will allow remote working, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and the new service delivers a faster broadband connection by aggregating the bandwidth of up to four ADSL lines connected to a customer’s premises.
