1. Make sure you use a telephony supplier that can deliver a network (hosted) DR plan via geo numbers. This will give you far more flexibility; speak to customers that already have similar systems in place.
2. Make sure you publish only 08 numbers and that no one can access the underlying numbers.
3. If your business is running multiple numbers for ad campaigns etc. Please Make sure that your DR plan covers all numbers (assess which are the business critical numbers and prioritise them first)
4. Have a number of DR actions within the plans, for example 1 could deliver to DR site 2 could deliver to homeworkers and 3 could deliver to mobiles.
5. Have web access and pin telephone access to invoke the plans.
6. Make sure your supplier has full access to your DR plans, in case of an emergency situation where you are unable to invoke them.
7. Store your system passwords in 2 secure locations.
8. Ensure DR plans are communicated to all relevant staff and practise running your DR plans quarterly.
9. Access how costly it would be to your business not to have a DR plan in place.
10. Make sure your supplier has appropriate SLA's to match your expectations

Security intensifies as the United States prepares for the decade anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a date al-Qaeda has cited as a potential opportunity to strike again.
Securing airports, train stations, nuclear plants and major sporting arenas around America the security ramp-up underscores a shift in policing focus since the attacks in 2001 from awareness of large scale sophisticated plots to smaller operations carried out by individuals or affiliated groups. "Throughout the city, whether it's the ports or the airports or venues or whatever, you will see an increase in awareness, an increase in resources at strategic places," said Mark Eisenman, assistant chief over the homeland security command for the police department in Houston.
Some of the first information discovered after Osama bin death in May indicated that, as recently as February 2010, al-Qaeda considered plans to attack the US on the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attack. But counter terror officials say they believe that planning never got beyond the initial phase and they have no recent intelligence pointing to an active plot.
But American’s aren’t going to be complacent with increased law enforcement presence, bomb sniffing dogs and random baggage searches they’re preparing for the worst.
The September 11 attacks had a devastating effect on the USA economy not to mention the horrendous personal devastation the disaster caused. So ensure that you’re doing the most you can to protect your business should disaster strike with a business continuity and disaster recovery plan from Elite.
A recent study revealed that businesses require email data recovery software more than ever following an influx in data security breaches.
Global provider of email security solutions, M86 Security, released their results in the latest twice-yearly publication reporting of a new trend in social-engineered scams and phishing attacks.
Vice president of technical strategy at the software firm, Bradley Anstis, said: “Whether the attacks occur via email or the web, one thing remains a constant: an increased emphasis on targeted, evasive malware that outpaces most security detection methods.”
However, whilst they confirmed that spam volumes in 2011 had reduced, “significant” attacks have surfaced through malicious attachments via emails.
And although the number of cases had become significantly lower, they have reportedly grown from less than one per cent to nearly three per cent in 2011.
Keep up to date with the latest software news, and learn about our effective data security solutions to help prevent your business being targeted by potential malware attacks – only at Elite Telecom.
A recent survey has found that up to half of small organisations have admitted to losing sensitive data.
Data and file backup software company Carbonite studied 125 small companies with a workforce of between two and 20 workers as part of their research into seeing how they organise their data recovery and backup approach.
They discovered that around 48 per cent of firms polled had lost data up to the period of April 2011 – a rise from the 42 per cent admitting the same back in December 2010.
Apparently the reason behind the data loss was software/hardware failure, accounting for 54 per cent of the cases experienced – including accidentally erasing the data, computer malware and theft.
Whilst numerous organisations regard cloud-based solutions and data recovery initiatives as a beneficial system, cost is repeatedly mentioned as an obstacle.
However, it is not just small companies that are falling victim to data loss – just recently the Government Communications Headquarters admitted to misplacing equipment to the amount of £1 million.

Many businesses are experiencing shortcomings regarding the ill-preparation of effective data recovery and business continuity plans, it has been reported.
Product marketing manager at FalconStor Software, Bobby Crouch, suggested that several organisations experience difficulty in questioning the logistics of coping with a disaster, labelling the enquiries as “distasteful”.
But he explained that the firms neglecting to plan ahead will “undoubtedly” look to implement a business continuity and disaster recovery scheme, proposing that the “lesson will be painful.”
“By embracing automation, businesses can overcome the two main challenges that hold them back from adequate business continuity and data recovery planning,” said Crouch.
International software group Acronis said that recovery services need to be used across all platforms – including both online and offline environments.
If this type of methodology was to be adopted, then companies would find themselves better off in organising a disaster recovery plan to help reduce the risk of data loss.
Don’t lose your mind by losing your data – recover your information easily and quickly with Elite Telecom today.
Companies are being advised to consider implementing data recovery plans that cover all active platforms, reported industry experts.
According to international computer software firm Acronis, they have proposed the use of backup and recovery services across machines of all platforms, to compromise of both virtual and physical environments.
“Then, if disaster strikes, your organisation can much more easily coordinate a recovery that will minimise or eliminate the potential for lost productivity,” the organisation said.
Their warning comes after a poll of businesses found that at least one third of US establishments are lacking an effective backup and data recovery solution.
The company further stated that developing a data recovery plan to include detailed stages throughout the business continuity process would be beneficial, as the chances of the individual assisting with the backup to also be on site during an emergency would be extremely slim.
Contributing editor for the InfoWorld Test Center Matt Prigge recently claimed that miscommunication was the most common cause of data recovery failures.
When it comes to disaster recovery, don’t get your wires crossed. Elite Telecom provide an exclusive selection of state-of-the-art telecommunications tools designed to improve your business operations, whatever the weather.
Many businesses have been favouring online data storage for its accessibility as well as stringent security measures over the past few years, according to IT experts. With features constantly being enhanced to improve data backup, the demand for cloud storage has increased steadily ranging from large businesses to even individual customers.
However, whilst previous conventional backups in the form of DVDs and external hard drives are still commonly used today, consider the safety of your data in case of an emergency. Should a disaster occur where data is physically destroyed (such as fire or even theft), cloud storage acts as a useful method for backing up imperative data.
More than ever, companies are looking to shy away from potential computer crashes, making cloud storage an appealing source of data backup. Being able to retrieve information wherever and whenever the circumstances can increase productivity, as well as encourage global relationships to form through adopting the same technology of affiliated networks.
With the shift into cloud storage set to make a positive impact worldwide, learn about the benefits of data recovery with Elite Telecom – and see how we can help your business today.
Data storage is an extremely essential tool within the workplace, but even more important is data recovery. In the scope of businesses today, each and every setting depends on these services for an operational business – but in the case of hospitals and other medical agencies, it literally can become a matter of life and death. Should your health authority experience damage to your equipment, there are certain practices you can take to ensure your data is not lost.

Companies in the US are investing more into disaster recovery plans compared to those in the UK, revealed a recent study.
Global technology organisation Neverfail interviewed 2,500 IT bosses and high level executives across the private and public industries within the UK and US, and the results found that Britain are way behind when it comes to planning efficient data recovery services.
Whilst over half of UK businesses had incorporated disaster recovery solutions into their business continuity schemes, US organisations noted an 82.6 per cent increase for the system.
The results for those not participating in a disaster recovery scheme found that approximately 45. 9 per cent of UK companies did not consider the business continuity plan a priority, which is a sharp contrast to the 22.4 per cent of US organisations who held disaster recovery in high regard.
However, whilst the US firms noted a decrease in productivity as the primary outcome of any application failure, the UK claimed that revenue loss would be the main factor.
Jim Preen of Crisis Solutions stated that although cloud-based computing could be a useful resource for disaster recovery, betting “your entire company on technology that has yet to reach maturity” would not be the wisest move.
For the best in data recovery solutions, continue your business planning with Elite Telecom.
